Announcements:
AAPI Voices - AAPI Youth Rising's Podcast
AAPI Youth Rising just released our 6th and 7th podcast episodes led by AYR board member, David Siu! In our 6th episode, David interviewed the director of the California Department of Civil Rights, Kevin Kish, and discussed what he does in his role. After exploring his career journey, we looked at CA vs. Hate's role in supporting communities in CA and their newly released numbers. In AYR's 7th episode, the executive director of API Advocates, Isa Whalen, spoke about youth involvement and how important AAPI History is to the school curriculum.
Op-Ed: Supporting AAPI Youth Mental Health
Check out a new op-ed co-written by David Siu and his brother on the urgent topic of AAPI youth mental health. The piece highlights key challenges, shares valuable resources, and connects to two upcoming November events — The Asian American Foundation’s “Youth Mental Health Summit” and Creating Spaces’ “Tending to the Child Within.” Read the full article here.
AAPI Youth Rising and Stop AAPI Hate
AAPI Youth Rising joined the Stop AAPI Hate co-led coalition of over 80 other Asian American advocacy organizations to reject a bill from the U.S. House that revives the China Initiative. This is the third year in a row that the House has tried to revive this defunct and disgraced Trump-era initiative. This is our second year joining a letter to the U.S. House and the Committee on Appropriations.
Legislative Actions:
Following the latest legislative op-ed piece about how public support is key to support legislative bills, Stop AAPI Hate needs your help to convince New York Gov. Hochul to sign the AANHPI Education Equity Act (A8463E/S7855E). If signed, a law will be set up allowing us to gather a better understanding of how AANHPI history is being represented in NY Schools and help us develop a more inclusive curriculum.

Kudos:
Kudos to Eloise and Callie! Our amazing middle school leads organized AAPI Youth Rising’s Virtual Art Week as part of United Against Hate Week (Oct 19–25, 2025) — marking our third year participating! They encouraged youth to share powerful art, poetry, and creations celebrating unity and standing strong against hate.
Kudos to Mia, Hudson, Eloise, and Taryn for representing AYR at TAAF’s AAPI Youth Mental Health Summit on November 7 in San Francisco, joining leaders and experts to address the challenges facing AAPI youth!
Kudos to Ethan for speaking, and Hudson, Eloise, and Mina for representing AYR at Creating Spaces at the SF Asian Art Museum on November 8. This event, a companion to TAAF’s initiatives, brought together youth, parents, and elders for open conversations about how childhood experiences shape mental health and healing!
